This project is about creating a story with photographs. I feel that I have achieved that. My story is about the city life in Bank. I took some photos of Bank on Bank Holiday and I took photos of Bank on a normal busy day. I decided to have my photos start with the Bank Holiday and then go into the normal busy day.

My original idea was just to shoot Bank on Bank Holiday but I am glad that I did a normal day. This project was a bit hard for me because I don’t really like taking photos of people, I like architecture photography so it was a challenge but I think I did ok.

When it came to setting out the book on InDesign, I really enjoyed that. I really like the idea of printing out the images and creating a book. It is every different than looking at the image on a screen. When I saw it in the book form I felt that the photos flowed well, you can see the transition from quite city to people everywhere. I decided to go with a tape bound which I really liked.

Overall I am pleased with what I achieved, I really liked how it all turned out. At the beginning of the book there is a couple looking forwards the camera and at the end of the book the couple is looking away. I just liked the idea of starting off with this couple and ending with them, (even if it’s not really to do with Bank).

Here is the end results

Yesterday I went to pick up my Photobook from the printers at Holborn. Overall I am very happy with the way it looks. I think that they photo quality is really good and I am happy with the A4 size. In the past project (Fanzine) I did A2 and for this project I was going to do A3 but I’m glad that I went in the middle of those two sizes. I think that A4 is a good choice.

Here I have some photos of the book.

The 3rd group tutorial I showed my layout for the phonebook. The feedback that I got was to take out the numbers at the bottom of the page and think about having some blank pages, to relate with my idea of busy and quite at Bank. Also I’ll have to get rid of some architecture photos because they repeat over and over.

I originally wanted to print my book A3, but then I changed it to be printed A4. Right now it is still A4 but I did like the A2 size when I printed my Journey project for Fanzine. I think I will keep it A4 for now.

Indesign Process 2

I’ve added the photos that I have taken on a busy day at Bank, which I added to the Indesign spread. Some of the pages I’m not really happy with, I’m not sure if its the photo or the way I have set out the photo book. The pages that I am happy with I have put a little black dot on the corner of the right page. I have added more pages, it’s now 20 pages with 18 photos and it’s still 1 photo per page.
